GNS Womens

GNS Women compete in Sydney Womens Hockey League (SWHL) competitions.  GNS Women have maintained a presence in SWHL Metro League 1 (ML1) for over 15 years, the highest level club hockey competition in NSW.  Our ML1 team regularly features in finals series and celebrated our first ML1 premiership in 2018!  

GNS has a history of developing young talent and state and national representation.  Amongst our current playing group are numerous state representatives.

GNS has also proven a popular destination for many elite players from overseas and has welcomed players from the Netherlands, Germany, UK, Ireland, India, France, Spain, South Africa, Pakistan and Argentina.

GNS 1 ­– SWHL Metro League 1

GNS 2 – SWHL Metro League 3

GNS 3 – SWHL Metro League 4

GNS 4 – SNW Div C

GNS Women are led by the Womens Convenor,  and the Lead Coach, Finn O’Connor.

Finn O’Connor has previously coached at the highest level in New Zealand (mentored by NZ National Coach Shane McLeod) and has been coaching GNS ML1 and representative teams in Sydney for the past three years.

Supporting GNS Women coaches are Robbie Muir (NSB Association coach, Dolphins Academy coach and Australian international player), Chris Pope (representative coach for several associations) and specialist external national goalkeeping and skills coaches.

Preseason and Training

GNS Women's preseason activities kick-off in January in preparation for the SWHL season in late March - early April.  Preseason involves a combination of fitness, turf training, trials, practice matches and social events.

Training and home matches – Kuring Gai Hockey Centre, Kuring Gai Hockey School, Bobbin Head Road, Turramurra

Preseason training (Jan and Feb) - Tuesdays 7 to 8.30pm, Sundays 6 to 8pm at KHC

Regular season training (March on) - Tuesdays 8 to 9.30pm (ML1 and ML3), Thursdays 7 to 8.30pm (all teams) at KHC

Regular season matches commence in late March / early April.
