Representative
Many GNS members also play hockey at the representative level, which begins at the local club association Northern Sydney and Beaches Hockey Association (NSB). NSB sends rep teams to compete at NSW state championship competitions (outdoor and indoor), from which Hockey NSW selects NSW state teams.
NSB is one of the largest associations contributing to NSW state championships. With multiple boys and girls junior teams, open men's and women's, along with various masters teams across a range of divisions, it is able to offer something for everyone.
Each year more than 50 NSB players go on to represent NSW at Australian national championships. Up to ten of these players go on to represent Australia in international competition.
GNS has a history of developing young talent and state and national representation at junior and senior levels. International players that have worn GNS colours include Australian legends of the game, Jamie Dwyer and Brent Livermore.
Amongst our current senior playing group are Australian U21 players, Brinley Gallagher and Robbie MacLennan, and on the women's side, Hockeyroo debutant Courtney Schonell (picture below, right), state players Sarah Johnston and Grace Jeffrey, and former Hockeyroo, Anna Flanagan.
